Co-founder of Matrix in 1979 and co-author of book Making Space: women and the man-made environment (1984). Followed with consultancy on gender and space for GLC and Womens' Design Service.

Concrete Visions? Architecture, representation and society

Phd, completed April 2002, which explores the ways we conceptualise and then engage with material spaces (using housing environments as an example) from the different positions of architect, builder and occupiers. Aims to contruct a critical framework that allows history, theory and practice to incorporate positionality and difference at its heart.

Cutting Edge research group

A collaboration between women working across disciplines - architecture, fashion, photography, museum design and new media which lasted from 1986 - 2004. Work included two conferences/books and an exhibition, Views from the Edge. For details of publications and exhibition go to CV

taking place

An informal grouping of feminsts interested in contemporary debates around architecture and urban cultures; has developed through events in response to situated conditions. The first conference held at University of North London 22 - 24 November 2001 and the fifth (TP5) was held in Stuttgart, Germany in March 2005. Currently undertaking a project with Homerton Hospital Mother and Baby Unit in East London.

Consultant on feasibilty study with Anne Thorne Architects for Greater London Authority on meeting the needs of London's diverse communities.

Sticking Points

Ongoing informal research collaboration with Katie Lloyd-Thomas, exploring points of cross-over and difficulty across different feminist generations; and across disciplines.
